Chepauk Super Gillies intent on shrugging off last TNPL season’s pain with title win

Addressing the press in Tirunelveli along with coach Hemang Badani, Sathish said that no team in the event could be underestimated.

TIRUNELVELI: Expressing that their team was hurt due to the loss in the finals of the last edition, Chepauk Super Gillies Skipper Rajagopal Sathish has stated that winning the second season of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) would be their ultimate goal.

Addressing the press in Tirunelveli along with coach Hemang Badani, Sathish said that no team in the event could be underestimated.

Commenting on the Thiruvallur Veerans, with whom they will compete on Monday, Sathish said, “They played well last year. They have new players this time and they will have consulted with analysts regarding gameplan and other aspects.

“I think that all teams will provide a tough fight in this season. However, whoever plays well during a particular match will come out victorious.”

Commenting on the pitch at the ICL ground in Sankarnagar, Badani observed that it looked more well-maintained as compared to last year.

“Last year, it had favoured slower bowlers. Looks like it will host high-scoring games this time,” the former India player stated, while predicting that 160-170 runs will be a par score at the venue.
Similarly, Veerans skipper Baba Aparajith remarked that qualifying for the play-offs would be their first priority.

“Gillies are a good team and they made it to the finals last year. We played some good cricket in the last season, and have prepared well for this time. It will be good match.”
