DAMBULLA:  Bangladesh defeated Sri Lanka by 90 runs in the first one-day international to take a 1-0 lead in a three-match series in the Sri Lankan city of Dambulla on Saturday.

Tamim Iqbal struck 127 while Shakib Al Hasan and Sabbir Rahman added 72 and 54 runs respectively as Bangladesh posted 324-5, their highest score against Sri Lanka.

The hosts in reply were all out for 234 in 45.1 overs, with Dinesh Chandimal (59) and Thisara Perera (55) making two half-centuries.

Mustafizur Rahman picked up 3-56 runs for Bangladesh.
