IPL a Bigger Platform for Rahul

After a dream first class season, the promising Kannaur Lokesh Rahul has found IPL a bigger platform to showcase his talent. Touted as one of the future players for India, the highly prolific Karnataka opener, who was one of the key members of the team that clinched the Ranji Trophy, has got a chance to play for Sunrisers this season.

Rahul was surprised when he was bought by the Hyderabad team but was nevertheless very happy to get the opportunity. “It is a great atmosphere and we have a lovely support staff. There are many great players in the side and I need to learn a lot from them,” said the 22-year-old cricketer.

The tons of runs he scored in Ranji did help his cause. “I just came with a positive frame of mind to prove myself as a cricketer on a bigger stage. I’m working on my game to become better and help the team with good performances,” he said.

The young batsman said it was amazing to play alongside some great players, adding that he enjoyed his century partnership with David Warner. “I admire both David and Shikhar (Dhawan). Both of them are different players. We all know how Warner plays and now I have seen from close.”

One important thing that happened to Rahul by playing for Sunrisers was getting an opportunity to spend very valuable time with V V S Laxman. “He is a great cricketer and I admire his batting style,” he said.
