CHENNAI: The 10th Chennai Open Grandmasters chess tournament 2018 for the Sakthi Group-Dr N Mahalingam Trophy will be held at various venues in the city from January 18 to 25. This annual chess festival, organised by Tamil Nadu State Chess Association, carries a total prize purse of `11 lakh. It offers aspiring players a chance to collect GM and IM norms.

A total of 16 GMs, five IMs including 23 titled foreign players have confirmed participation. World blindfold simultaneous chess record holder, GM Timur Gareyev of USA (ELO 2606) is the top seed. TN bowlers toil

Unbeaten centuries by Jonty Sidhu and Dinesh Mor put Delhi in command against Tamil Nadu as the hosts gained a lead of 140 runs on the second day of the CK Nayudu Trophy U-23 tournament semifinal at Air Force grounds in New Delhi.
