TIRUPATI: Exuding confidence that the Telugu Desam will come to power in the State,Telugu Mahila State president and TDP candidate for Chandragiri Assembly seat RK Roja has said people will teach a fitting lesson to the Congress in the elections for its corrupt regime.
Participating in a door-to-door campaign at Padmavati Nagar in Tirupati rural mandal Sunday, Roja said the people were vexed with the five-year Congress rule as they were in no way benefited from the welfare schemes and development programmes initiated by Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy.
The family members of Chief Minister and ruling Congress leaders had amassed a huge wealth by misusing their power, she said.
Predicting the defeat of the Congress at the hands of Grand Alliance,Roja said the party which was chanting the mantra of social justice day and night, would also meet the same fate in the elections.
She said the fiery speeches of Junior NTR exposing the corrupt Congress during his tour of north coastal Andhra were sending shivers down the spine of the ruling party.
Taking a dig at her rival Galla Aruna Kumari, she said the Minister for Medical Education and Health Insurance was not even aware of the meaning of MBBS.
Earlier, Roja was accorded a tumultuous welcome by Padmavati Nagar sarpanch Ravi Naidu and his supporters. She applied kumkum to women and sought their mandate.
CPM leaders Murali, Kumar Reddy and Nagaraj, CPI leader Penchalaiah and N Ramamurthy Naidu, brother of TDP supremo Chandrababu Naidu, and others participated in the campaign.
