TIRUPATI: Since Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is aware of 2G spectrum scam as stated by former telecom minister A Raja, he should resign owning moral responsibility for the scam, TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu has demanded.

Addressing newsmen on the sidelines of all-India Kisan Sabha here on Wednesday, he said the Prime Minister had expressed his helplessness in controlling corruption.  Corruption is evident in every sphere, be it 2G scam or mining mafia, which only indicates the inefficiency of the government, Naidu said.

He alleged that the ruling Congress was solely responsible for rampant corruption in the country and stressed the need for a concerted struggle to root it out.

Naidu alleged poverty in the country had not been reduced, prices of essential commodities were being hiked frequently, problems of farmers continued while the plight of the vulnerable sections was pathetic.  Stating that the black money was being stashed away in Swiss banks, he said the government was unable to bring it back.

“There is an urgent need for financial, political and administrative reforms. Corrupt should be prosecuted and their properties seized,’’ the TD chief said.

Naidu said with government and political system failing to take up the fight against corruption, social activists were forced to take up the cause and fight against corruption.  “TDP will always support those fighting against corruption,’’ he said and added that our fight is against corruption but not against any individual.
