KHAMMAM,: Tuberculosis is spreading at an alarming rate in the district in recent years. The high incidence of TB in Khammam town, Singareni, Kothagudem, Kallur, Rompedu, Konijerla and other areas has become a major concern for health officials. A TB patient should undergo medical treatment for six months and take medicines continuously to get cured from the disease.

The health officials have failed to check the spread of the disease by detecting TB cases in rural and agency areas promptly, allege people. K Ramakrishna, a TB patient, says he is not getting medicines properly from the primary health centre.

According to district TB control programme in-charge Patnaik, medical treatment is being provided to TB patients through 22 identified PHCs.

A campaign is also being organised to create an awareness among people about symptoms of TB and treatment. TB patients are being advised to undergo medical treatment continuously and take the correct dosage of medicines without stopping it in the middle for a complete cure of the disease. Awareness camps are also being conducted in this regard.
