MAHBUBNAGAR: Dasari Naresh (21), a Degree final year student of Kotthakota mandal headquarters in Mahbubnagar district, committed suicide for the cause of separate Telangana. Frustrated over the delay in formation of Telangana state, he doused himself in kerosene and lit the matchstick.

He died on the spot due to severe burns.

In a suicide note, Naresh said that none were responsible for his death and that he took the extreme step dejected over delay in carving out separate Telangana.

His father, D Santhanna, does fish business. TJAC local convener Chenna Kesava Reddy, on knowing about the death, reached Naresh’s house and raised ‘Jai Telangana’ slogans. Nagarkurnool MLA Nagam Janardhan Reddy also condoled the bereaved family.

In Nalgonda district headquarters, an unemployed youth attempted suicide reportedly for the cause of Telangana. Gaddhala Shankar (24), a painter, tried to immolate self and suffered 70 percent burns.

According to his family, Shankar doused himself in kerosene and lit the matchstick late on Saturday night. On hearing the screams, neighbours rushed him to Nalgonda Hospital from where he was shifted to Hyderabad.
