CHITTOOR: Devotees standing in queue lines at Kanipakam temple for having darshan of Lord Vinayaka, ran helter- skelter after hearing a beep sound from the temple hundi. The incident created a flutter in and around the temple and forced temple authorities to cancel darshan for three hours.
Suspecting the beep sound was generated from a bomb inside the Hundi, the temple authorities informed the police and a bomb squad from Chittoor was pressed into service. When the hundi was opened by the bomb disposal squad, it was found that the beep sound was emitted from an electronic watch dropped by some devotee.
Based on a complaint from the temple executive officer P Srinivasa Rao, Chittoor West circle police registered a case. Chittoor DSP Shilpavalli, CI Srikanth also inspected the temple. After three hours, the temple authorities resumed darshan for devotees
