HYDERABAD: Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and PCC president Botcha Satyanarayana conferred with party president Sonia Gandhi in Delhi on Friday on selection of candidates for four of the six Rajya Sabha seats that would fall vacant on April due to retirement of the sitting members.

As the last date for filing nominations is March 19, a hectic exercise is going on to finalise the candidates. The selection of the candidates has become a problem of sorts as this time around as the number of aspirants to the four seats, which the Congress can win on its own strength in the Assembly, is quite high _ about 40 who include industrialists as well. According to sources, Kiran Kumar, before leaving for Delhi, appeared reluctant to let Chiranjeevi into the RS.
