APTDC staff call off stir

Tourists are expected to flock to Araku, Ananthagiri and Tyda resorts from Wednesday as the APTDC employees called off their six day-long strike on Tuesday. However, 42 employees working in Borra Caves continue their stir.

APTDC vice-chairperson and managing director Chandana Khan visited Araku and held discussions with the striking employees. After holding talks, she gave a written assurance that the services of all the contract employees would be regularised by March 31, 2013. But, services of 130 outsourced workers will be regularised after end of the contract period. They will be appointed as contract workers initially, and their services will be regularised in a phased manner.

Meanwhile, the employees working at Borra Caves are continuing their stir as the APTDC did not give any assurance over payment of 20 per cent of its gross income for local development.
