Devotees donate 27 tonne flowers

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has received 27 tonne of flowers as donations during the ongoing Navarathri Brahmotsavams, said TTD garden deputy superintendent Srinivas.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Monday, he said over 500 staff members are at work for the flower show, and vahanam and other decorations. There are 246 decorators and 300 garden workers, he said.

“Today the flower exhibition stood as a major attraction for the visiting pilgrims. We have depicted mythological characters like Ghatotkacha and themes like Gopika Vastrapaharanam and Trilokas with flowers in a tasteful manner,” he said.

Later, chief engineer Chandrasekhar Reddy said the TTD has spent about Rs 3.48 crore for various works, including cutouts and lighting effects during the Brahmotsavams. “This year, the LED lighting themes stood as a major attraction,” he added.
