No pay for Ruia lab staff for 14 months

Four lab technicians of Ruia hospital, who are not paid for the last 14 months, took up the matter with Union health secretary PK Pradhan, who visited the hospital on Saturday.

Hospital superintendent Veeraswamy intervened in the matter and told the health secretary about lack of funds.Stating that they are yet to get the `2.56 crore assured by the state government, Veeraswamy wanted the health secretary to release adequate funds under National Rural Health Mission (NHRM) for Ruia children’s hospital. The four lab technicians--G Renuka, B Sreehari, K Venkatarohith Kumar and A Dwarakanath--joined the hospital in November 2010 on a 10-month contract and paid `6,000 per month for the first eight months.
