‘Out reach’ to strengthen Congress base

Youth Congress is gearing up to change gears and fatten its cadres by recruiting more from the SC, ST, BC and minorities, which for long has been the traditional vote bank of the Congress in the country.

To ensure that the Congress regains that traditional vote bank, which it lost to its rival parties, that saw it losing its footing in several states including Uttar Pradesh, it came out with a new programme called “out reach”.

The programme has been initiated by Rahul Gandhi, as a run-up to the 2014 elections. Youth Congress wants to pave way for the comfortable victory of their prime ministerial candidate Rahul Gandhi.

More or less this was the summary of the speeches by several speakers at the first “Out reach - leadership convention”, held at Gandhi Bhavan here on Sunday.

Speakers included AICC secretary and in-charge for Out reach programme Shanimol Osman, AIYC general secretaries in-charge for AP M Lizu and Shabuddin, primary education minister S Sailajanath, TRIEFD chairperson M Surya Naik and state Youth Congress president Challa Vamsichand Reddy.
