Telangana revenue staff warn of stir

Alleging that the state government was harassing revenue employees belonging to the Telangana region, the Telangana Revenue Employees' Services Association has threatened to launch an agitation if the harassment does not stop and their demands are not met in a month's time.

The association's officebearers met here on Sunday under the chairmanship of association president M Shiva Shankar.

Talking with reporters along with general secretary Samuel and treasurer Narayana Reddy later, Shiva Shankar alleged that higher officials in the revenue department were initiating disciplinary action against tahsildars and other lower-rung officers from the Telangana region to harass them.

Even police cases were being registered against some tahsildars, he said and demanded that the government stop the victimisation immediately.

If the victimisation did not stop in a month's time, the Telangana revenue employees would launch an agitation, he warned.

Shiva Shankar also asked the government to construct new buildings for revenue offices at the mandal level.
