CBI officer dealing with key cases shifted

Additional superintendent of police in the Central Bureau of Investigation, RM Khan, one of the officials playing a key role in the probe into the irregularities of Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC) and other high-profile cases, has been transferred to Mumbai. He will however continue to work in the state for some more time as he is part of the team which is probing the OMC scam.

Sources, however, described his transfer as routine, saying he had been working with the Andhra Pradesh unit of CBI for the last eight years. He was reporting to CBI joint director VV Lakshminarayana.

Khan has been transferred to the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) in Mumbai and will be replaced by Alexander, additional SP from Chennai.

Alexander is unlikely to take the new posting immediately as he is investigating an important case in Chennai. Khan’s transfer orders were issued about 10 days ago. When contacted, Khan confirmed his transfer but said he would continue to be here for some more time.
