Pranab Mukherjee, who arrived at the temple town on his maiden visit after assuming office as the President, was accorded a warm welcome at Tirupati airport on Saturday.
Governor ESL Narasimhan, chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, TTD chairman K Bapiraju, ministers G Aruna Kumari, C Ramachandraiah, MPs Chinta Mohan and Kavuri Sambasiva Rao, MLAs, MLCs, officials and Congress party leaders were among those who welcomed the President.
Later, the President left to Tirumala by road, where endowments minister C Ramachandraiah, TTD chairman K Bapiraju, TTD executive officer LV Subramanyam along with the TTD trust board members welcomed him at the Padmavathy guest house, where the President would stay for the night.
Earlier, TTD Trust Board members including MLAs K Kamalamma, Pamula Rajeswari, Chitturi Ravindra and GV Srinatha Reddy were not allowed at the guest house.
However, Bapiraju intervened and took the board members along with him to welcome the President.
