13 Telangana ministers Write to Sonia

Except Danam Nagender and Mukesh Goud, all 13 other ministers from the Telangana region, including deputy chief minister Damodar Rajanarasimha, dahsed off a letter to AICC president Sonia Gandhi on Monday, requesting her to immediately accord statehood to the their region.

They also sent copies of the letter to AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi, Union home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, defence minister AK Antony, party state affairs in-charge Ghulam Nabi Azad, AICC emissary to the state Vayalar Ravi and Sonia Gandhi's political secretary Ahmed Patel.

The ministers made it clear that they would not accept any solution except statehood to Telangana.

Media reports that the Centre was working out a compromise formula made the Telangana forces to unite and revive the moment, they said and asserted that no other solution than according statehood to the region would be acceptable to the people of Telangana.

BC welfare minister Baswaraju Saraiah said that Nagender and Goud did not sign the letter as they were thinking of writing separate letters to the party high command.

Telangana ministers and some Congress MPs met at the residence of Peddapalli MP G Vivekanand here on Monday night. Ministers K.Jana Reddy, B.Saraiah, D.Sridhar Babu, and MPs G.Sukhender Reddy, Madhu Yashki Goud and Ponnam Prabhakar attended.

Sukhender Reddy told reporters later that they had discussed the developments in Delhi with over the Telangana issue and  received indications from the high command that an all-party meeting would be held soon.
