Former minister and senior Congress leader Gade Venkata Reddy has predicted doom for the Congress in the 2014 general election.
In an informal interaction with mediapersons here on Thursday, he predicted that YS Jagan Mohan Redddy’s party would win not fewer than 150 Assembly seats and capture power in the state. The Congress’ tally might not cross the 60-mark, he said. The YSR Congress would make inroads into the Telangana region too as people in that region had admired and loved Rajasekhara Reddy. The YSR Congress would win at least 50 seats in the region, he prophesised.
The veteran leader said YSR still remained etched in people’s hearts and they were showing love and affection for him even though he is no more. Rajasekhara Reddy might have earned money for himself but earned people’s hearts too, he remarked.
Reddy advised Jagan Mohan Reddy to cut the flab in the party and not to allow chaff. A majority of the leaders joining the YSR Congress were those who had run out of steam and not having any support from people, he said.
