Lokayukta justice B Subhashan Reddy on Thursday issued summons to Mahabubnagar district collector M Girija Shankar to appear in person on Jan 22 at 10.30 am in a case related to the stoppage of pension to a senior citizen.
The Lokayukta on Dec 13, 2012 had taken up a suo motu complaint of a news item published in a vernacular newspaper on Dec 8, 2012.
The report stated the old age pension of one Mudda Rangappa (80) of Irkichedu village, Mahabubnagar district was stopped by the officials for three months and to report the same the elderly person had to walk for 20 kilometres to reach MPDO. He reportedly couldn’t afford to pay for his transportation charges. The Lokayukta directed the collector submit a report by Jan 9.
