Beach Festival draws huge crowds

The day-2 of Kakinada Beach Festival was all about dazzling display of pretty flowers in all hues.

Unmindful of the sunny afternoon, huge crowds thronged the festival to catch every glimpse of the nurseries on display, relish authentic Andhra delicacies and bask in the traditional cultural shows put up by the school and colleges students.

The nursery stalls were undoubtedly the major crowd pullers. Right at the entrance is Sri Veerahanuman nursery and garden that showcased an array of bonsai plants, rose bushes and dahlias. Other nursery gardens, Seetharama, Sri Venkata Devi, Siva Sri Lakshmi Ganapati and Sri Satyadev nurseries to name a few, also had exotic plants such as gladiolus and morning glory among others.

The energetic, foot-tapping cultural performances by the groups of children of various schools, college students enthralled the visitors. The bright sunny afternoon witnessed a plethora of performances on various themes. The students of DVZP High School, St. Anthony High School and APSP English School have stood out with their performances.

The one poignant moment of the day was the performance of three students with special needs. Students Vishnu, Teja and Uma Mano Vikas stole the show with their compelling adaptation of the evergreen song Telugu Jaati Manadi. Incredibly in-sync with each other throughout their performance, the boys’ moves bore uncanny resemblance to the original version, totally captivating the audience before ending their gig to rapturous applause from the crowd.

Commending the efforts and contribution of the institutions and students towards making the festival a huge success, district education office (DEO), East Godavari district, Srinivas Reddy gave away mementos to all the participants, congratulating them for their brilliant performances. As the event organiser Victor gushed, “The children are the heroes of the today’s event. Despite heat the audience enjoyed the performances throughout the day,” he said.

Besides scintillating cultural shows the event also had the visitors enjoying rides, trying new games at the stalls and relishing good food. The beach festival has more plans lined up for Sunday as well.
