In the opinion of Seemandhra Congress MPs, the Telangana Rashtra Samiti is a radical organisation. They see their Telangana counterparts as those wanting to follow in the footsteps of the TRS to fuel regional passions for political gains.
All these days the Congress leaders from Telangana used to complain against their Seemandhra counterparts alleging that the Samaikyandhra movement was being orchestrated by them.
But Friday witnessed a role reversal with Seemandhra Congress MPs shooting off a letter to the AICC leader Digvijaya Singh grumbling about the attitude of their Telangana counterparts towards the proposed public meeting of APNGOs.
KVP Ramachandra Rao, Vundavalli Arun Kumar, Lagadapati Rajagopal and A Sai Pratap wrote a letter to Digvijaya Singh on Saturday complaining against the aggressive posture taken by the Telangana outfits including TRS towards the meeting of the APNGOs.
The MPs also spoke out against the ministers and Congress MPs from Telangana, alleging that these leaders were taking an example from the TRS and were resorting to politics of division.
“In order to disturb the peaceful movement for United AP, some radical divisive organisations including TRS have asked the state government to grant permission to hold a rival meeting on the same day in Hyderabad. These organisations have even issued statements that they will not allow APNGOs to hold a meeting in Hyderabad in favour of united AP,” they said.
In their letter, the Seemandhra MPs told Singh that the claims of these “radical elements” were being supported by the ministers and Congress MPs from Telangana.
“The same Congress leaders from Telangana have assured people and the Congress leadership that they will protect the democratic rights of Seemandhra people in a divided state. But, now they are issuing statements which are contrary to their promises. If these leaders could not protect the rights of people of various regions in a united state, then imagine the plight of the people of other regions in a divided state,” they told Singh.
“It is highly deplorable that members of a national party like ours, which is against divisive politics based on cast, religion, region and language, have chosen to violate the fundamental right of expression.”
They also reminded Singh that TRS in the past had given a slogan “Telangana wala Jago, Andhra wala Bhaago”.
