Observing the severity of the Samaikyandhra agitation and the high pressure of the Union ministers of Seemandhra region on the UPA government, the process of preparation of Telangana note for separate statehood has been slowed down, said Union minister of state for commerce and industry Daggubati Purandeswari. All the eight Union ministers of Seemandhra are making efforts to keep the state united, and are pulling out all stops in opposing the bifurcation, she added.
Purandeswari, speaking to media persons here Wednesday said that New Delhi was the right platform to the Union ministers of Seemandhra region to voice the concerns of the people, who are opposing the bifurcation process. All the eight ministers were ready to tender their resignations to the government at any time, but she questioned if and how that would affect or facilitate the rollback of the UPA government’s T-decision.
Elaborating on the efforts to stop the process of separation of Telangana by herself and her ministerial colleagues at New Delhi, Purandeswari opined that if they resigned, there would be none left to convey the opinions and anguish of the Seemandhra people at the Centre. However, she said that since the decision has been announced, all the Seemandhra ministers have made it clear that the separation of the state will never be accepted by the Seemandhra people, and all the ministers together told the government and Congress high command that Andhra Pradesh should not be divided at any cost.
“We are explaining the losses that we would incur if the state is divided, and the severity of the Samaikyandhra agitation to the Antony Committee, as well as to all the ministers concerned. It was after the pressure exerted by us that the the Antony Committee has been set up to register all our voices. Because of the unbeaten Samaikyandhra agitation and the Union ministers’ strong stand for united Andhra, the process of preparation of T-note has been slowed down,” Purandeswari said.
Meanwhile, agitations continued across the region on Day 50 of the Samaikyandhra Movement, with huge members of the public wishing for United AP.
