Youngest Anam brother to join YSR Congress Party

Youngest Anam brother to join YSR Congress Party

A day after finance minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy had lashed out at YSR Congress Party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, his younger brother Anam Jayakumar Reddy announced on Saturday that he would join the Jagan’s party soon.

“Today I am formally announcing my intention to join the YSRCP. Time will decide when exactly I would board Jagan’s ship,” he said.

Taking strong exception to the critical remarks made by his brother Ramanarayana Reddy against Jagan, Jayakumar said, “It is inappropriate for my brother and finance Minister to spew venom on the late YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s family, at whose mercy my brother’s political career in the Congress got a boost”.

Singing paeans to the late chief minister, Jayakumar Reddy claimed that despite repeated objections from Nedurumalli Janardhana Reddy’s family, Rajasekhara Reddy gave utmost priority to the Anams in the Congress affairs of Nellore district.

“Rajasekhara Reddy gave prominent position for our family in the district unit of the Congress during his regime. He even took Anam Ramanarayana Reddy into his cabinet. It is not fair for my brother Ramanarayana Reddy to bite the hand that fed him. In fact, our family never resorts to politics of betrayal,” he lambasted.

Jayakumar Reddy said his another elder brother and MLA Anam Vivekananda Reddy had demanded that the Congress leadership make Jagan the chief minister soon after the untimely demise of Rajasekhara Reddy. He even went to the extent of threatening the Congress leadership to bring down the state government if Jagan was not made chief minister, the youngest of the brothers recalled.

YSRCP insiders feel that Ramanarayana Reddy’s verbal attack on Jagan paved the way for Jayakumar Reddy to become “eligible” to gain entry into Jagan’s party by retaliating against his brother’s tongue-lashing.

After the eclipse of the dominance of the Nedurumalli family in the district Congress affairs, Anam brothers are virtually running the show.
