A drunk man beat up his two-year-old daughter and locked her in the refrigerator for some time on Monday, prompting the mother and neighbours to come to her rescue.
Sheik Madina Basha, a driver and resident of VAMBAY Colony in Narayanapuram, came home drunk on Monday and entered into an argument with his wife Rohini. Later, he beat his child Ashma with a belt and locked her in the fridge. With Rohini raising a hue and cry, the neighbours rushed in, rescued the child and rushed her to a hospital where she was given first aid. The child had developed swelling in her hands and feet.
They also complained to the police, who questioned the family members at the Prakashnagar police station. While Basha denied beating the child, his elder daughter Reshma confirmed that he had beaten Ashma and put her in the fridge. The cops are investigating the case.
