TDP MLA moves High Court against bail denial

Telugu Desam MLA Yarapathineni Srinivasa Rao from Gurazala in Guntur district moved the High Court on Friday, challenging the dismissal of his bail application by the district sessions court at Narasaraopet.

The MLA, who has been in judicial custody since January 10 in connection with the murder of Congress activist Unnam Narendra two months ago, had moved a bail application before the district court and his plea was turned down by the court on January 12.

Yarapathineni Srinivasa Rao was arrested at his friend’s house in Hyderabad on January 9 and was taken to Narasaraopet on January 10. He was then produced in the sessions court.

Prior to his arrest, the district court had turned down his plea for anticipatory bail.

The Piduguralla police named Yarapathineni Srinivasa Rao as the chief conspirator in the murder case.

Justice NRL Nageswara Rao posted the case to Monday for instructions.
