Advanced luggage scanner at Alipiri

TTD vigilance and security department has installed an advanced luggage scanner at Alipiri here, the foothills of Tirumala. It was formally inaugurated by TTD chief vigilance and security officer GVG Ashok Kumar on Saturday.

The new device can thoroughly check even the unlocked baggage. It can even automatically tie the baggage with a rope to keep the contents intact. After scanning, the luggage of the pilgrims trekking the hill on foot will be dispatched to Tirumala where the pilgrims, after reaching there, will collect it.

Ashok Kumar said that till now they had accepted the luggage for transport to the hill-top only if it was securely locked. Now, pilgrims who have no locks for their suitcases need not worry. The new technology enables the scanner to automatically tie the baggage with a rope and there would be no chance of the articles slipping out.

The firmly fastened luggage or suitcases will then be transported to the luggage centre on the hilltop where the pilgrim can collect it.
