18 projects signed at partnership summit progressing well

Of the 85 MoUs signed during the partnership summit-2012 by various power generating companies, seven projects were progressing with good speed and 11 other were under various stages of completion.

IT minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah, who is looking after the energy department on behalf of the chief minister, told reporters Wednesday that tenders for generating solar power would be finalised by February 7.

He said they were expecting investments worth Rs 4,200 crore in the solar energy sector. After a review with Kiran Reddy, Ponnala said a 600 MW new unit at Singareni would be completed by June, 2015.

In wind power sector, the new and renewable energy development corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NREDCAP) commissioned 40 MW power plants. Of the 2,550 MW plants permitted under wind sector, generation of 140 MW power had already commenced, he said.

Of the Rs 6,000 crore investments by Central generating stations in power sector, Rs 1,200 crore was invested in the state.
