According to villagers, following a police complaint by the woman’s family, the duo were nabbed by the Salem police in Tamil Nadu and sent home safely. However, the local police, in collusion with the woman’s family, had bumped off Ramakrishna on his arrival, they alleged.
The condition of Krishna Rao and Narasimha Rao, who were operated upon for removal of bullets, is critical.
Vijayawada sub-collector D Harichandana, who visited the police station, said they would conduct a magisterial and departmental inquiry.
