Missing film producer Ravishankar found dead

Noted Telugu film producer, distributor and businessman Akkineni Ravishankar Prasad, who had been missing since Monday, was found dead on Saturday.

The highly-decomposed body of Prasad (55), grandson of legendary film-maker LV Prasad, was found on the shores near Gogulalanka in East Godavari district, police said. Prasad, chairman of Anand Regency Group of Hotels, went to Anand Regency Hotel in Yanam which was started seven months ago. On the morning of July 8, he went out for jogging, clad in a track suit, and did not return. According to hotel officials, he went towards the Balayogi Varadhi (Yanam-Edurulanka bridge). A complaint was lodged with Yanam police in the evening.

Prasad’s body was sent for post-mortem to Mummidivaram government hospital on Saturday. It will be shifted to Chennai where his last rites will be performed on Sunday. He is survived by wife and two children.

Police are, however, tightlipped over the reason for his ‘suspicious’ death. They are yet to confirm whether it was a case of suicide, murder or accidental death. Prasad’s relatives ruled out suicide, saying there was no reason for him to take the extreme step.

Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy expressed  grief over  Ravishankar’s demise.
