One P Narsimha Rao (45) of the Dosillapalli village of Charla mandal in Khammam district has been reportedly washed away in the Taliperu rivulet on Sunday.
He had gone to the forest to collect firewood. While coming home, he tried to cross the rivulet but as the water level increased suddenly, he was washed away in the flood waters.
Some shepherds who noticed him passed on the information to Teliperu project staff who closed the project gates.
The villagers found the body 3 km away from the project.
Charla police station sub-inspector Ramesh registered a case and investigation is on.
