Fishing boats banned in Kolleru Lake

Krishna district collector, Buddhaprakash M Jyothi, has directed the district officials to seize fishing boats in Kolleru lake.

Addressing a review meeting here Thursday, he asked the officials to take steps to check digging of fish tanks. He said it was the responsibility of the revenue and forest departments to protect the lake.The collector instructed the officials of fisheries, revenue, forest and groundwater departments to take measures to protect the land under the purview of the lake. He asked the members of the committee to inspect the lands before giving permission for fish tanks.

The district-level committee headed by the district collector, granted permission to the applicants for new fish tanks in an extent of 180 acres lands in the district. The collector asked the officials to ensure that no inconvenience was caused to the public while digging new fish tanks.
