In the wake of rains in several districts like Adilabad, Nizamabad, Warangal, Khammam, Karimnagar, Ongole and East Godavari, the APTransco and Discoms have taken up all possible measures like deploying special breakdown restoration teams in the flood-affected areas for restoration of power supply.

APTransco chairman and managing director Suresh Chanda, while reviewing power supply situation in the flood-affected areas here on Saturday, has cautioned officials to be on alert as rains are predicted for the next 48 hours in coastal and Telangana districts.

Suresh Chanda directed the CMDs of Discoms to deploy special power breakdown teams in flood-hit districts to ensure restoration of power. He advised them to ensure that adequate stock of distribution transformers, poles and other material is kept at field offices.

Suresh Chanda told them that he had received phone calls from public representatives during late night hours, referring to the hanging of 11KV line near Bogula Vaagu in Ajam Nagar of Bhupalpally mandal in Warangal district. He advised them to alert the public through media and tell the villagers about the possible electrocutions due to fallen live wires in the flood water.

CMD of Northern Power Distribution Company Limited (NPDCL) Karthikeya Mishra said that due to heavy rain, power supply to about 80 villages in Khammam district and about 10 villages in Nizamabad district was affected and restoration works had been taken up.

He informed that a special monitoring cell has been set up to review  power situation in all the districts under NPDCL.

Suresh Chanda appealed to the general public to cooperate with the workers and officials of the power utilities in power supply restoration and rectification works.
