City temples buzz on Guru Purnima

Guru Purnima was celebrated with gaiety across the twin cities on Monday. Right from dawn to dusk, various temples, particularly Shirdi Sai Baba temples, located in different areas, buzzed with activity as devotees thronged the temples to celebrate the auspicious day.

Shirdi Sai Baba temples located in Punjagutta, Minister Road, Vidyanagar, Dilsukhnagar, Shivajinagar in Secunderabad and other places were decked up for the occasion. Adorned with flowers and lights, special rituals were performed at the temples that reverberated with religious hymns and chants. Serpentine queues were witnessed at the temples.

Guru Purnima is celebrated to pay tributes to the spiritual gurus, their teachings and their lives. The full moon day in the lunar month of Ashadh  is observed as the auspicious day of Guru Purnima, a day sacred to the memory of the great sage Vyasa. It’s a time for prayerful gratitude deep from the hearts for all the gurus starting from Sage Veda Vyasa for showing the path.
