It is said that adversity brings out the best in men. An incident in the rain-hit Babasagar village in Bejjur mandal of the district on Tuesday exemplified it.

A pregnant Ettyala Lakshmi developed labour pains on Tuesday and had to be rushed to hospital, according to her husband E Siddesh.

The family members and some fellow villagers put the patient on a cot which they had brought along and carried it over a blocked bridge unmindful of the rain and thus managed to reach the hospital on time. Lakshmi safely delivered a baby.
