Heavy inflows into Srisailam reservoir

Inflows into Srisailam dam from Jurala project and Tungabhada river swelled  raising the reservoir level to 845 ft level as against full reservoir level of 885 ft. on Thursday.

The inflows from Jurala project through Krishna and Tungabhadra rivers was heavy since July 22. Presently 1,66,236 cusecs of water made its way from Jurala project and 93,000 cusecs water came from the Sunkesula dam through Tugabhadra river, Srisailam dam AE Sudheerbabu said.

“Nearly 40 TMC of flood water flowed into the Srisailam dam from both the rivers in just four to five days.

The dam will reach the FRL stage if flood waters continue to pour in at the same pace,’’ he said. 

The Jurala project is also filled with flood water and 1,58,940 cusecs of water has been coming from the Almatti reservoir for the past three to four days.

Officials released 1,78,156 cusecs downstream for the Srisailam reservoir.

Presently the dam level stands at 317.65 meters as against 318.56 meters.
