YSRCP opts out of Avanigadda Assembly bypoll

YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) Krishna district convenor Samineni Udayabhanu has announced that his party will not field its candidate in the bypolls for the Avanigadda Assembly constituency as they have respect for the Ambati Brahmanaiah’s family.

YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) Krishna district convenor Samineni Udayabhanu has announced that his party will not field its candidate in the bypolls for the Avanigadda Assembly constituency as they have respect for the Ambati Brahmanaiah’s family.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, the YSRCP leader said that the party had taken the decision as they honour late MLA Ambati Brahmanaiah who had offered great services to the people.

He, however, made it clear that they had not taken the decision in response to the request made by Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president Nara Chandrababu Naidu to YSRCP honorary president YS Vijayamma.  Babu had urged YSRCP not to field its candidate by respecting the practice of not fielding candidates in case of the demise of the incumbent MLA.

Udayabhanu alleged that the TDP president had indeed never respected this practice as he had fielded his party candidate against Dronamraju Srinivas after the demise of his father Dronam Satyanarayana.

It may be recalled here that TDP had announced Ambati Haribabu, son of Ambati Brahmanaiah, as its candidate and it wants to make the election unanimous.

It may be mentioned at this point that the Avanigadda byelection is scheduled to be held on August 21.
