Government benefits, including getting a domestic gas refill, have now been linked with Aadhaar Card, but lakhs of people who enrolled for the cards, some even more than a year ago, are yet to receive them.

Without Aadhar Cards, students will not get their scholarships, seniors will not get their old-age pension and leave alone getting subsidised gas refills, the government gas dealer will not give even the non-subsidised refill which costs around Rs 1,000.  The Aadhar imbroglio has pushed the people into a piquant situation where they feel there is no life without Aadhaar.

The lack of coordination in issuing the cards is also too glaring to be ignored. Though the Aadhar website does put out information about the status of the card, as it turned out in many cases the information is not entirely reliable.
