Rajiv Housing Occupants to Strike Today

VISAKHAPATNAM: Irked by lack of basic amenities and other long-pending issues, the Rajiv Gruhakalpa occupants have decided to stage a dharna at the District Collectorate here at 11 am on July 21 and submit a memorandum to the collector. The members of Rajiv Gruhakalpa Beneficiaries’ Welfare Association, during a meeting in the city on Sunday, discussed their further course of action for resolving their issues.

Rajiv Gruhakalpa occupants from Aganampudi, Paradesipalem, Kommadi and Parawada joined the discussion and shared their problems with each other. Rajeev Grihakalpa Beneficiaries’ Welfare Association convener J Kameswara Rao said that houses, which were granted two years ago, still lack basic amenities like proper drinking water, drainage canals, sanity, septic tanks, etc. The members lodged several complaints with the officials concerned, but in vain. Meanwhile, as many as 9,103 beneficiaries are freshly waiting for the allotment of Rajiv Gruhakalpa houses, he pointed out.

CPM Maddilapalem zone secretary RKSV Kumar, Association members S Veera Raju, Ratna Kumari and P Lakshmama Swamy were present.
