Minor Boy Killed, 10 Hurt as Lorry Rams into Auto

VISAKHAPATNAM: A 10-year-old boy died and 10 others were injured when a lorry rammed into the auto-rickshaw they were travelling in at Pudimadaka Junction near Anakapalle Saturday morning. The deceased was identified as Yashwant. Meanwhile, the condition of two victims, Maruthi Rao and K Varalamma, is said to be critical and they were shifted to King George Hospital in Visakhapatnam for better treatment.

The police said that about 11 persons were travelling in the auto-rickshaw from Pudimadaka to Anakapalle when a lorry rammed the vehicle near Pudimadaka Junction on the national highway. While Yashwant died on the spot, the other passengers suffered injuries and were rushed to the area hospital in Anakapalle and a private hospital in Visakhapatnam.

The police registered a case and launched a manhunt for the driver and cleaner of the lorry, who are absconding.

Yashwant’s body was handed over to the bereaved family members. Investigation is on.
