ELURU: Two persons were murdered by unidentified men on the premises of a temple near the National Highway in Chebrolu village early Monday.
The deceased have been identified as Parvathi (50), a begger, and B Esu Babu (24), who worked in a highway patrolling van. The duo received head injuries, possibly caused by a stone.
According to police, Parvathi used to sleep in the temple premises every day, as did B Esu Raju after he completed his duties.
A couple, who stays near the temple, found the bodies in a pool of blood in the morning and called the ambulance which shifted the duo to government hospital.
SP K Raghurami Reddy and deputy superintendent of police Sattibabu rushed to the spot to enquire about the incident. Sniffer dogs were pressed into service.
Chebrolu inspector ND Prasad and sub-inspector VC Sekhar registered a case and are investigating.
