5K Villages to Get Filtered Water Soon

VIJAYAWADA: “The government will supply 20 litres of filtered drinking water for `2 in 5,000 gram panchayats in the state with effect from October 2,” panchayat raj minister Ch Ayyanna Patrudu said. Addressing a meeting at Thippanaguta village in Bapulapadu mandal of Krishna district, after laying foundation stones for various development works taken up at a cost of `3.5 crore in the village Sunday, the minister said that the NREGA could be utilised for constructing pathways in fields and maintaining dumping yards.

Irrigation minister Devineni Umamaheshwara Rao announced that water would be released soon to paddy nurseries. Health minister K Srinivas, social welfare minister Ravela Kishore Babu, ZP chairperson G Anuradha, collector M Raghunandhan Rao and others mobilised the funds for the works.
