Lorry Driver Dies, Cleaner Hurt in Robber Gang Attack

ELURU: A lorry driver died and a cleaner received grievous injuries when two unidentified persons attacked them while they were asleep in the lorry.

Lorry driver Rashid Khan (34) and cleaner Nurullah Khan (24) were proceeding to Uttar Pradesh from Kakinada with scrap.

The driver stopped the lorry at Darbhagudi village on the outskirts of Kovvur for tea. Later, they parked the lorry on the roadside and fell asleep.

After sometime, two unidentified persons attacked them and robbed `19,000 and cell phone and fled. Hearing the cries, persons at the tea kiosk tried in vain to catch the miscreants.

They belong to Jilalpur village of Muradabad district in Uttar Pradesh.

Body of the driver was sent to the government hospital for postmortum.  Kovvur inspector Mohan registered a case and is investigating.
