VIJAYAWADA: Irrigation minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao stated that the works had been allotted by calling e-procurement tenders regarding Krishna delta modernisation works. He clarified on the reports that some works had been allotted through the nomination system.
He told newsmen here Wednesday that details on government works that are being carried through tenders, would be revealed to the concerned local representatives and also directed the officials to reveal the details to the local people on every work that is being carried out by the government. He also pointed that 10 TMC of water was released from June 25 to July 30 to provide drinking water to the delta regions in Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam and West Godavari districts.
He also mentioned that 125 TMC of water was received from Srisailam reservoir and added that this was estimated after consultations between Irrigation officials and the Krishna water board management.
“Our top priority is to release water for the irrigation,” he said and added that efforts were on to release 15,000 cusecs of water for the Krishna delta ayacut.
