Ticket Checking Drive Fetches Rs1.4 L to Railways

GUNTUR: Guntur division railway officials, during a special checking drive in 25 passenger and express trains in Guntur-Nandyal and Guntur-Nalgonda sections Wednesday, caught 468 passengers for travelling without tickets and in violation of other norms.

They also collected Rs 1,36,095  from them towards fine. The Guntur division and commercial branch officials, led by chief commercial manager (passenger marketing)-Secunderabad M Sarjana Rao, had been conducting checking drives across the division.

The officials booked cases against all the 468 passengers of which 229 were travelling without tickets, 141 were involved in irregular travel (adults travelling with child/senior citizen tickets, general/season ticketholders travelling in reserved compartments, failing to submit original ID proves /concession certificates required, while availing such concession etc.) and 98 were carrying un-booked luggage in the compartment, beyond prescribed limit for respective class of travel.

Sr DCM (Guntur) C Ramakrishna, Data Base Manager (Secunderabad) Diwakar Babu and ACM (Guntur) AG Venkatesan participated in the drives along with 28 TTEs and four RPF staff.
