Girl Dies in Freak Mishap; WG Man Dies in Araku Car Crash

VISAKHAPATNAM: In a freak incident, a six-year-old girl died on the spot after sustaining a severe head injury while on her way to school at Park Centre in Anakapalle Saturday morning. The girl fell on the ground when her bag accidentally got hooked to a moving tractor in the town.

Sources said that P Kalyani, daughter of P Vasu of Gavarapalem in Anakapalle, was going to school  Saturday morning when her bag got hooked to a moving tractor. The young girl lost balance and fell on the ground, resulting in a severe head injury. The girl died immediately thereafter. The shocked residents, who witnessed the freak accident, informed the police and the girl’s parents.

The police sent the body for postmortem and took up the case for investigation.

In another incident, a tourist from West Godavari district died in a car accident in Araku Valley  Saturday. The victim was identified as K Ganapathi (30).

The police said that Ganapathi, along with three of his friends, were returning to their room after visiting a waterfall near Padmapuram Gardens when the driver lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a sharp turn causing the vehicle to skid off the road and hit a boulder. While Ganapathi died on the spot, the others escaped with minor injuries. The police have booked a case and an investigation is on.
