VIJAYAWADA: The department of geriatrics was inaugurated at Charithasri Hospital to improve the quality of life of senior citizens here Monday, said Charithasri Hospital managing director Koneru Vijay Kumar.
He told newsmen that the geriatrics department was started for the first time in the state with 20 beds and a special team would take care of senior citizens to prevent certain age related deseases by periodic health checkups.
“The services offered by the department include diabetology, orthopaedic, bed care, nursing care and emergency care under the supervision of specialist physicians with 24 hours ambulance facility and counselling sessions will be conducted for them by the doctors about the food habits, daily exercises and the medicine dosage,” he added.
