Two Home Guards Impersonators Held

VISAKHAPATNAM: The city police arrested two persons impersonating home guards here Thursday. Additional deputy commissioner of police (Crime) S Varada Raju, at a news conference here Thursday, said that the impersanators, passing off as real home guards, had performed duties for the last one decade by submitting fake documents.

As per the details, the police department recruited eight persons from Pedda Uppada area in Bheemili mandal as home guards in 2003.

Two of them - Vasupalli Dasu and Tholada Konda Babu - left their jobs just after two months during the training period itself. Finding an opportunity, Pilla Pothuraju and Pilla Palaraju of the One Town Fishing Harbour replaced Dasu and Palaraju Konda Babu respectively by submitting fake ID cards, bank accounts and other documents.

Varada Raju said that the duo used to draw salaries and special allowances every month with the fake bank accounts.

However, their luck ran out when a home guard D Ramakrishna noticed their identity and complained to the Two Town police.

The police nabbed the duo and after checking their certificates and documents, found them to be fake. A case has been registered and investigation is on.
