Fourth Ranker Opts for Guntur Medical College

VIJAYAWADA: As many as 945 seats have been filled up to 7.30 pm on the first day of MBBS/BDS counselling held by the NTR University of Health Sciences (NTRUHS) here Saturday. Counselling for admissions into MBBS and BDS courses for the academic year 2014-15 is being held jointly for Telangana and AP states.

The counselling is being held in Hyderabad as well as Warangal in Telangana as well as Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh. In the counselling conducted at NTRUHS in Vijayawada, fourth ranker D Haritha was the first to get admission. Vice-chancellor T Ravi Raju presented the admission certificate to Haritha who joined the Guntur Medical College.

The first phase of counselling is being held from Aug 30 to Sept 5. While open competition seats would be filled in the first three days from Aug 30 to Sept 1, counselling for reserved category seats would be held from Sept 2-5.

Counselling on the first day was held for ranks between 1 and 1,500. As many as 1,253 candidates gained admission for MBBS seats at all the five centres on the first day. There are a total number 5,950 MBBS and 2,380 BDS seats during the first phase of counselling.
