NGO Decries Acquiring Its Land for Airport

VIJAYAWADA: Daddy’s Home, an NGO being run by Care & Share Charitable Trust, is opposing the government’s move to acquire its land for expanding the Gannavaram Airport. The NGO is located in Buddavaram village, 6 km from the airport.

Trust founders Linda Faison and Noel Harper on Wednesday urged the government not to claim their lands as the NGO is accommodating more than 500 girls and boys comprising street kids, run-away children, destitute children, orphans, HIV+ kids, physically challenged and abandoned babies in age group of 0-18 months.

Daddy’s Home has 10 buildings including housing for boys and girls, a Babies’ Home, cafeteria and kitchen, dispensary and dental clinic, laundry, store, hair-cutting saloon, school buildings, gymnasium, prayer hall, farm, playgrounds and a skating rink.
